Last Minute Gamer Gift Guide

The post Last Minute Gamer Gift Guide appeared first on Fextralife.

Christmas is fast approaching, if you still haven’t got all your presents not to worry, we have a last minute gift guide for those who live, breathe and sleep gaming. If you need some inspiration or picking up a last few stocking fillers, this list will help you for December 2018.

Last Minute Gamer Gift Guide

After scouring Amazon which still looks to be the most convenient way to order Christmas gifts in time for December, we’ve found a few items that would make any gamer happy. Most of these can also be found in store, if you would rather not order online. There’s also one for those who love gamer themed merch. Whether your gift recipient loves gaming on the go or likes to play on a variety of platforms, there’s bound to be something on our wishlist that will suit your festive needs.

Retro Styled Controller With Modern Features

While this isn’t strictly a console gift, those who love gaming using a D-pad might miss it when they switch over to other platforms. But now you don’t have to choose between battling it out with only keyboard, mouse or touchscreen with this controller that works with Windows/Steam/Nintendo Switch/Raspberry Pie. A controller that does it all and has a retro vibe.

The 8bitdo SN30 Pro controller takes on a classic look but packs all the modern features such as a USB-C cable, motion control and rumble vibration. Although a full sized controller, it is quite slim compared to the standard Steam or PS4 controllers. Easy to take with you on the go or to use as your usual controller of choice when at home.

The 8bitdo SN30 Pro controller costs $44.99 from Amazon and comes with free shipping. If you want to make sure you get it before Christmas, you can choose to pay for One-Day shipping.

The Dark Souls Fan

There are collectibles and then there are collectibles, the amiibo Dark Souls Solaire of Astora is a must have for any souls collector. Even if you aren’t planning to use it with a Nintendo Switch, it still makes a perfect Xmas pressie for avid fans. Solaire is in the classic “Praise the Sun” pose and will even unlock this gesture in the Switch version of Dark Souls. If you’re unfamiliar with amiibos they can be scanned using the Switch device to unlock loot and can also be used with other games. While it can be used as just a decorative piece to add to any Souls collection, to get the full benefit it’s great for those who own a Switch device.

Also if they’re getting through Dark Souls for the first time or even the 100th time be sure to recommend our Dark Souls wiki.

The Dark Souls Solaire of Astora amiibo can be picked up on Amazon for $39.50.

Sound & Style

Having tried a fair few headphones there is still a pair that holds true for me, the HyperX Cloud II Gaming Headset with 7.1 surround. While not the most expensive pair out there, they are truly comfortable, lightweight and long lasting. With ear cups that surround the ear rather than on ear, you can wear these for many hours and they work with both PC and console, as they have a long adapter cable allowing to switch between audio jack and usb. You can use these with pretty much any gaming device out there, and they are perfect for travel as well. There’s a detachable microphone that can be used for in-game comms.

You can pick up a pair of HyperX Cloud II for $99.99 which comes with extender cable and volume controller.

The Streamer

If you know someone who is thinking about streaming or wants to upgrade their setup, they might want to check out the Logitech webcam C920. This webcam seems to still be the standard when it comes to gamers who stream, due to its convenient plug and play setup as well as size. It captures in HD and is a welcome addition to those who are budding streamers. You can also use the in-built microphone, so it works as two devices in one. It also can be used with either laptop or desktop PC.

Snap up the Logitech HD Pro Webcam C920 for $49.99.

Loot

Want to give a gift that keeps on giving? Why not try a subscription to Loot Crate. Choose 1 month, 3 months, 6 months or a 12 month plan, to deliver your gamer chum a box of gaming goodies each month to their door. You don’t even have to gift wrap this one, as it gets sent in a neat Lootcrate box. Each month takes on a different theme, and there is even an Elder Scrolls theme crate coming in June 2019. This month features Dungeons & Dragons, Escape from New York, Fallout and Transformers Bumble Bee. Crates go out between 20th and 28th of each month.

A Loot Crate subscription costs $19.99 a month plus shipping.
