Gone but not forgotten.
Earlier this year in June, Sword and Shield producer Junichi Masuda shocked the Pokémon community when he revealed some creatures would be left behind. After much backlash from fans, it resulted in him releasing an official statement, saying how it was a "very difficult decision" to make.
He also explained at the time that even if a specific pocket monster wasn't available in the newest games, that it didn't mean it would not appear in future games. Now, in his most recent interview with Game Informer, he's made it very clear how cut Pokémon would "definitely" return in future entries. He even referenced Pokémon Home, the new cloud storage service:
