Recently FromSoftware revealed Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice would be getting a free update later in October this year, adding further features to action title. Activision also announced they the game has surpassed 5 million copies sold. Now there is new physical Game of the Year Edition is underway.
On the official Japanese website for Sekiro, FromSoftware made the announcement that the game would be getting Game of the Year Edition. This version will be only available at launch in Japan and only available for PS4. This makes sense in terms of console preference in the region, PS4 being the more popular choice.
What’s a little odd about this Game of the Year Edition of Sekiro is that normally GOTY versions are re-releases of the game, typically with added content such as a DLC, of course Sekiro doesn’t have any DLC to speak of. There are some new additions that come the with GOTY physical version, it includes an introductory guidebook and a “special equipment package”.
You might also notice a different cover for the box art, this is actually the standard box art for Japan, which differs from the international release. There’s also a nice sleeve to keep your game in good condition and features some bonus art.
The Sekiro Shadows Die Twice Game of the Year Edition hasn’t been announced for western release, but maybe a version will be coming west. The game will be getting it’s physicial edition in Japan on October 29th, which coincided with the free update releasing worldwide.
