Phonenix Labs the developer behind the monster hunter online action title Dauntless has been acquire by publisher Garena.

The studio has now the support of Garena, under the digital entertainment department based in Singapore called Sea. The acquisition has already been confirmed with Garena now owning 100% of the Dauntless developer. Through this transaction, a 100 in-house developers will be added to the Garena team, and the developer will continue to support Dauntless. They also have plans to bring the game over to mobile, as well as increasing their presence in Asia and Latin America markets. Phoenix Labs Co-Founder Jesse Houston shared that this acquisition would “ensure that we can provide the best possible experience for Dauntless players around the world“.

Dauntless is the free-to-play monster hunter title with cross-play.

Garena is well known in the Asian market as they helped released titles such as League of Legends and PUBG in that region. They also released Free Fire which is a battle royale mobile game. Sea Co-Founder Forrest Li believes this union of Sea and Garena as well as Phoenix Labs will be result in a lot of success. “We couldn’t be happier to welcome Phoenix Labs to the Garena family…We also know that they share our mission of making great games, creating the best teams, and putting players first. Our skill sets are highly complementary, and we see many exciting opportunities ahead that our teams can explore together.“

Hopefully this will result in an exciting new future for Dauntless. Dauntless is now available on PC, PS4, Xbox One and Nintendo Switch, with plans for mobile.
